Remember the Milk

If you know the app, you won’t be surprised by the title of this blog post. If you don’t, you probably thought something along the lines of “Why is she talking about grocery shopping?”

Well, this isn’t about groceries (although you can use it for that), but rather about not forgetting anything – including the milk, if you are using the app like that.

Basically, it’s a digital pinboard, notebook and alarm all rolled into one so you’ll never forget anything anymore. To be sure, there are a ton of apps out there that will do these things, some even pre-installed on your mobile phone, but most don’t have all the options “Remember the Milk” has at once.

  • Reminders: You can set reminders for things you need to do, like writing an email, making a call or logging into a webinar.
  • Todo: You can make lists of things you need to do without any specific due date.
  • Ideas: You can collect ideas for different areas of your business or personal life, such as ideas for blog posts (this actually was on my list), changes to your website or software and apps you want to check out.
  • Reading: You can collect links to webpages you want or need to read.

What makes this app so great is the fact that you can make individual lists for different topics to keep things organized AND you can add tags to each item to make them easier to find in case your lists got a little mixed up – or you just don’t want to bother with different lists. You can also use the tags to create smart lists, eliminating the need for creating your own lists, if that’s how you roll.

You can also add contacts and then assign tasks to others (for example the grocery list to your significant other).

I also like the fact that the free version already has so many features that you can work with that without a problem. And you can sign in on your browser, too, which makes adding tasks (especially ones with lots of notes) so much easier.

Want to know more? There is a Wikipedia article available and of course the website itself.
Curious to try it out? Just go to https://www.rememberthemilk.com/ and see for yourself – and tell me how you like it in the comments! I’d love to hear your opinions on it, or even other apps that work for you.
