Anke Betz A-Z Translations

Services

Whether for videos, training films, webinars, interviews, or presentations – spoken language today is not only meant to be heard, but also to be read. This is exactly where I come in: as a state-certified translator and interpreter, I am familiar with both the oral and the written side of language and bring the two worlds together.

For transcribing or subtitling, you not only need to be a good listener, but also to know how spoken language is rendered correctly and naturally in writing – so that it meets the requirements for readability, line length, and speaking pace. This interface between interpreting and translating is my daily bread.

Since I am court-certified for English and have many years of experience in business, technology, and – as a conductor – in the field of classical music, I am particularly suited for audio and video material from these subject areas. Of course, I am also happy to take on assignments from other fields – just ask!

Transcription

I prepare written transcripts of audio and video files for you in English and German, e.g. of:

  • Interviews, conversations, and panel discussions
  • Training and continuing education videos
  • Lectures, conference recordings, and webinars
  • Documentaries and corporate films
  • Dictations, conference calls, and voice memos

If required, I prepare the transcript verbatim (including slips of the tongue and pauses) or lightly edited – i.e. revised for readability and focused on the content. Delivery is formatted as a Word document, as an Excel spreadsheet, or directly as a subtitle file (.srt, .vtt).

Subtitling

I create subtitles for your videos, training films, webinars, and presentations – matched to picture and sound and with an eye on reading speed, line breaks, and display duration. This keeps the text easy to read without running ahead of or lagging behind what is happening on screen.

I distinguish between two variants:

  • Subtitles in the source language (e.g. English subtitles for English-language videos) – ideal for accessible, hard-of-hearing, or didactic purposes.
  • Subtitles in the respective other language – I translate your existing subtitles from German into English or from English into German, so that your content reaches a new, international audience.

I am also happy to take on the subsequent subtitling of existing subtitle files (e.g. translating an English .srt file into German or vice versa).

Languages

I offer subtitling and transcription for the following languages:

  • English
  • German

In both directions – i.e. English subtitles for German-language material as well as German subtitles for English-language material.
