When I tell people that I am a freelance translator and interpreter, the reactions I get tell me that most of them have no idea what this profession entails – or that it even is an actual profession, for which you ideally have gone through some kind of schooling?!
The folks at eazylang wrote a nice little post about the five most common misconceptions about translation, which I’d like to share with you. They are:
- Being
bilingual is enough to be a translator
- Translation
 is done word-for-word
- Being a
 translator is easy
- Translating
a text is fast and free
- English
translations are enough to reach a universal public
What are some of the misconcpetions you have encountered? I’d be interested to hear from you in the comments below!
