    Brain: Knows more than one language \u2013> refuses to find the correct word for the language you are speaking in.<\/p>\n

    1. You have to decide between sounding pretentious or pronouncing it wrong when you order foreign food<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

      You refuse to pronounce it \u2018choriTSo\u2019 but your beautifully pronounced
      \n \u2018chorizo\u2019 with a rolled \u2018R\u2019 will leave the waiter silently judging you<\/p>\n

        As much as you try to avoid it, at some point, you will become a
        \nteacher of your native or studied language. In fact, when people find
        \nout you are multilingual, they are likely to assume that teaching is
        \nyour profession. On the bright side, you\u2019ve always got that to fall back
        \n on!<\/p>\n

        1. Monolinguals don\u2019t appreciate the struggle<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

          Your compatriots think it\u2019s a hobby, and native speakers of the
          \nlanguages you have learnt make your life difficult; JUST SLOW DOWN.<\/p>\n

                Speaking languages makes you travel; travelling makes you learn more
                \nlanguages; and so the circle continues, endlessly. Your mother will have
                \n something to say about it.<\/p>\n

                1. You become a habitual eavesdropper<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                  It can happen anywhere. You\u2019re just casually grabbing a coffee and
                  \nthen BAM; someone speaking the language you\u2019ve learnt sweeps by, and you
                  \n freeze, listening in. Whoever is having a coffee with you will be
                  \nconfused by your blank expression and coffee mug hovering halfway
                  \ntowards your face.<\/p>\n

                  1. Friends and family use you as a translation resource<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                    \u201cCould you just have a read through my CV in English?\u201d \u201cI want this
                    \npart to be in French as well, can you just quickly translate it?\u201d
                    \nPEOPLE. This stuff takes time and effort!<\/p>\n

                    1. You suddenly find your native language inadequate to express yourself<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

                      So many words are required to describe something for which there is
                      \nnot a term in your native language. It gives your speech a certain je ne
                      \n sais quoi.<\/p>\n

                      This is the fate you have chosen for yourself. But hey, when they
                      \nsaid that languages would open doors for you, they weren\u2019t wrong!<\/p>\n

                      In fact, you can find a job with Europe Language Jobs<\/a> and your languages will take you traveling. <\/p>\n
