I have mentioned the ATA’s Blog for new translators<\/a> before, and the latest post is a re-post from copyediting.com<\/a> about negotiating for freelancers and it is really good!<\/p>\n

It lists seven points you should keep in mind when entering into a negotiation:<\/p>\n

  1. Be ready to say no<\/li>\n
  2. Plan to aim high<\/li>\n
  3. Start on common ground<\/li>\n
  4. Never show your cards<\/li>\n
  5. Be the first person to throw out a (high) number<\/li>\n
  6. Con’t rush into a “solution”<\/li>\n
  7. Be prepared to walk away<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
